Here I go
« on: October 13, 2009, 08:41:26 pm »
Allright, after almost 10 years of designing and refining I'm actually starting my cab. I have been using a control panel that I made back in '01 that's right '01.

I will be using a Qbert cabinet that I got at auction in late '06. It was converted to Super Buster Bros. Cabinet is in real good shape.

I have lots of controls. I have plenty of buttons both Happ and GGG EI. I will be using the EI's for my final product. I have 2 IPAC's, 1 real old board from back in '01 and 1 from '05 ~ '06. I have an Opti-PAC as well. I also have a KeyWiz ECO and Opti-Wiz for my TT2. I also have an Oscar Controls Vortex that I bought before he shut down. So far I also have 2 Led-wiz's and a trackball I converted to EI. I will be using two MagStiks as well. So as you can see, I have been trying different products to see what I like best.

Please look over my input list and tell me what you think. I have been reading up on the U-HID and might pick one up to play with, as I think I could cover all my controls with one device.

Thanks for reading,

Jon

First tip ... and you have been around long enough that you should already know this... don't tell folks that you are MAIMing a nice QBert.

Although it was nice to see that you aren't planning to strap a frankenpanel on it.  :dunno

EDIT: Oh, wait ... do I see a spinner, trackball, steering wheel, plunger and pedals ?  :dizzy:

He said it was already converted to something else.  I thought the general rule was if it was an original dedicated cab, then generally don't MAME it.  If it's been converted at least once, it's free game.  Of course, if it's an extremely rare cab, a refurb would be cool, but if it's not original...  I'm just asking.  :dunno

Asking is good ... there are no hard and fast rules and, once you own the cab, the choice is up to you.

To my mind "in real good shape" means a cab that is not only easy to save, but one that should be saved.

The opinion is mine, the cab is not,

The Cab is in good shape but no Qbert stuff exists in it. The only way I knew what is was, is because of the Gottlieb plate. Th CP was hacked out of plywood, not steel like the orig.

Yes I have alot of controls but I do not think they will all fit. The steering wheel will be a snap on to the front and be USB. I only have 23" of width to play with.
No Frankenpanels here. I hope  ;)
