Running random beavis and butthead episodes as screen saver
« on: October 10, 2009, 12:47:38 am »
I want to get Mala setup to run a random episode of Beavis and Butthead. (I own several of the released DVDs)

I just have no Idea how to go about it. Is it possible? I can get the main video files to a networked drive.
So access to the files wouldn't be a problem. Or even loading the DVDs.

Perhaps a plug-in or if really needed I could do some VB to connect to an API if there is one.

Any thoughts greatly appreciated of course.

I'm thinking an existing 3rd party screensaver app would better handle this right out of the box?  Mala currently handles AVI files as a screensaver I think.  Doubt it or a plugin in could handle DVD movies without a 3rd party library or converting the movies to AVIs?   Loadman may say differently as he knows about the new video engine in the beta.

Thank you. I will have to start looking for that. Perhaps that is the only way to go.

New Video Engine can't  play DVD's. Just unprotected video files

If I could get the video files to the Hard drive would it do it? I can convert them to anything for sure.

Anyone have ideas as to what software package would do this? I'm not opposed to freeware or buy it now software. I just want it to work.

As well, Loadman if I need to move this to the software forum let me know.
