Save Issue... Help!
« on: October 07, 2009, 11:22:45 pm »
I have recompiled mame with the hi_score add in which allows me to save games and hi scores.  The main reason I did this is to be able to save my NBA Hangtime season.  It has worked perfectly up until I had a friend come over and create his account.  Every time I play him or we play against each other, it doesn;t save the game.  Does anybody know why this might be?  I am not sure if I am not exiting properly or if it can only save one persons game... any help would be greatly appreciated.

The Compile is 134 and I am using Hyperspin if that has anything to do with it.... thanks!

high score patch must be messing the build up.

i've got a copy of fastmame .98 that has similar problem.. wont save dip or control changes.

there is no reason to use save states with nba jam

as i said in the other thread NBA JAM / Hangtime have NVRAM, in the original machine it's a area of memory that is saved by a battery when the machine is off.. this saves your profile.

in mame it's a file in the NVRAM folder.

my guess is the high-score patch is hosing mame's ability to either save or read the file.

one things for sure you DO NOT NEED SAVE STATES  to keep your player stats on nba jam.
Anyone got change for a dollar?
PLEASE HELP NEED Fastmame .70 and .9* releases

Thank you very much for your reply... are you saying that I should not include the hi_score info when I compile if I want to use NBA Jam or that I should redo it?

well.. i dont compile my own so i dont use high-score patch..

im saying thats probably whats fowling up your build who is maintaining the high-score patch? does'nt it change per build?

try compiling without the high-score patch and see if nba jam works for you then, if it does then you know it was the high score patch.. if it is'nt then you can eliminated it as a possible problem.

one thing im absolutely 101% sure of is you do not need high score patch OR save states to save your profile in nba jam.. it's covered in the NVRAM file (under normal circumstances)
