Question about cabinet locks
« on: October 06, 2009, 06:41:25 pm »
A friend of mine just recently scored an MKII cabinet for the princely sum of 0 dollars. It has some minor issues, but is actually in spectacular shape considering the price. He's asked me to help him rectify those issues, and I'm pretty sure I can handle most of them.

There are unfortunately no keys for the coin doors & rear door of the cab. I'm assuming that a standard cam lock is what I need for the coin doors, but the cabinet lock looks different. Does anyone know what lock I need for the rear panel? (and if you know where I can get one, so much the better) I'd like to have the replacements in hand before I go drilling out the old ones.

Are all the locks in an unlocked position? Check by the coin mechs behind the coin door for the back door key?

I'm not sure what's available in your area, but if you're shopping online...

I've had a decent experience with this guy...

The lock on my back door (Sega Cabinet) looks like a cam lock (sort of), but it's just mounted differently.

Post pictures of yours? :)

If the cab doesn't have a divider between the back and the front, sometimes you only need to remove the back door lock and can access the front ones to disassemble them. That's what I did on my MAME cab (which was originally a Williams/Robotron). The back lock was gone, but I could reach the coin door lock from the back and just took it apart.
