Smoked glass placement
« on: July 16, 2003, 09:46:24 am »
Hey guys.  I'm getting ready to hunt up a piece of smoked plexi for my cab.  First off, and decent tips for that?  I know we have the smoked plexi thread, but that's a lot of hunting to do for a few tips. :)

My main question was where exactly does it sit.  Does it sit right up against the monitor?  Should you a few inches gap?  Does it even matter?

Mine sits a little bit (1" maybe) over the monitor.  I didn't have a choice in placement, though.  My cab had a lip around the monitor that the bezel and plexi both sit on.

the smoked plexi thread

although I don't think what you want to know is there... what you really want to know is how far away should bezel/mointor glass be in general from the monitor/bezel.

I don't think it really matters.  It just needs to be far enough away to have any bezel(s) underneath (if applicable) FWIW mines probably a good 2-4 inches away from the screen.  but my screen is at a "classic" angle.

Another question I thought of?  :)

Does the plexiglass have to be parallel to the monitor screen?  I wouldn't think so, but with smoked glass it wouldn't surprise me.  As an example, what if your monitor was perfectly level, but the smoked glass was at an angle?

as long as there is no glare to begin with it really doesnt matter.

the only thing i want to line up is the angle of the glass be the same as the notch in cab where the screen sits.
