SNK Rotary ls-30 pin outs

I picked up a pair of snk rotary ls-30 to use for my cab.  Neither of which have a wiring harness, so I am trying to make one for the gpwiz.  

I picked up the wiz specifically for the rotary support and I know I need to combine certain pins to wire into the wiz but I am not sure which pins on the ls-30 are 1-12 and ground.  Hopefully the picture attaches because it won't let me preview it.

Exactly what do you want to do with it?

You need an encoder to convert the 12 inputes into single 'L' or 'R' clicks (I'm not sure if anyone is still selling these though)

Or you need to connect each one to a button... Then use something like analog+ to convert the 12 way input into the game settings themself...  This is by far the best solution... but they only support a 1/2 the games, and the version of mame it uses is only about 3 years old (but any major update in the SNK games?).  NOTE: you will need 12 inputs for the direction + 4 for the joystick + 1 per button (2 or 3?) per player for an encoder for this.  Its not easy, but once it is setup, you can turn the knob as fast as you want and get to the perfect location.  This is needed for victory road with the sword to be really the effective super weapon it is.

Last, you could start rolling your own mame version, and then change back to direct input, and make your own input hooking / macroing app to make the conversion... like at http://www.oblita.com/hooking-part1....  neat little project that would be fun.

Any other solutions anyone?

I should be a little more clear.  I ventured to build my own cab and wanted rotary support for some of my old favorites.. victory road, time soldiers, gondomania, ikari.

So I am going to use the mamev123 build as that seems to be the last one w/ the best rotary support.  

For an interface I picked up groovy game gear's gpwiz40 that includes rotary support (Roto-X).  That is the encoder interface in the picture for the rotary connection.  I obviously haven't tried it yet but it has  a Roto-X profiler software.  

Wiring the gpwiz seems to be as simple as combining 4 pinouts (w/ positions) 1,4,7,10 ls-30 into input 18 (for player1)  of the gpwiz.  Then repeat for 2,5,8,11..etc.

So I'm trying to figure out which pins on the ls-30 represent 1,4,7,10.  The ls-30 has 13 pins.
It seems that it would be simple as long as the ground is the first or last pin but I have no idea.  Maybe the ground is pin 7 and pins 1-6, 8-13 are positions.  Anyone else had to this before?  Thanks.

IIRC, pin one is ground, and the pins 2-13 are positions 1-12.  This can be checked very easily with a multimeter.

I'm pretty sure pin 7 is ground (that's the one in the dead center).  I may need to go back and review my wiring/notes, but that's the one thing I was pretty sure of.

FWIW, I use the GP-WizRX which is the 32 input version of the one you bough.  Works just fine!

Broke out the multimeter and ground is definitely pin 7, dead center.
So now I think I'll take an old floppy cable to build the harness.

I don't think the pin spacing is the same as a floppy cable.  If I remember correctly, it's slightly off and requires a special connector.  Now, you might be able to force it on there, but it might be pretty tight.  If you go that route, be careful.  As I'm sure you know...parts for LS-30s are pretty hard to come by!
