Help before I cut...
« on: July 15, 2003, 06:30:37 pm »
I just got in my refurb Betson trackball and it's in great shape!  I'm getting ready to hook it up to the Opti-pac and I want to make sure I'm going to do this right.

I believe the plug at the end is the standard Happs plug.  If this is correct, can I then use the instructions on Ulimarc's page for wiring the TB up?

The Betson has 2 black, 2 red, 1 yellow, 1 blue, 1 green, and 1 brown (not purple like it says on Ultimarc).

I'm assuming I can wire it up just like it says on Andy's page you would do for the Happs?

There is also the green "static build up" wire.  Andy's page mentions wiring it to a "ground", but I'm guessing it's not THE ground on the Opti?  Should it just connect to the metal case or something.

Thanks in advance for the help.

Yes on everything you said - assuming the brown is the same as Andy's purple.  I have a Happs Hi-ball and one thing I had was my X & Y axis's were backwards.  So following Andy's instructions, when I rolled the ball right it went left, and up was down.  I just swapped the wires at the Optiac and was as good as gold.  The green wires I attached to metal.

:) Rotate or die! :)

REBIRTH,

Thanks man!  Sorry I didn't respond right away, I've been too busy playing.  Having a real TB is so cool.

The only thing left for my control panel is a trigger stick... perhaps, tomorrow.  ;-)

Thanks again.
