Street Fighter 2 and a u360?
« on: September 24, 2009, 09:35:41 pm »
Most of my game time is used on my childhood favorites like Timber, DK, Mario Bros, etc but, after getting a smack-down at a party I had, I decided to spend some time on Street Fighter 2.

Does the U360 need any special programming to pull off the special moves in this game? (i.e. the moves requiring a "roll" of the joystick such as back, back/down,down,down/forward,forward + punch/kick)  I have a Happ 8-way that works pretty well (except Dhalsim's teleporting which I have yet to figure out ??) but I am getting nowhere on the u360.  I wasn't sure if there is an adjustment I need to make or I just don't have the timing down?

Thanks

I'd use something like ledblinky and the controls.ini for mame to have the u360's programed correctly (8 way mode).

There may be other ways to do this but this way will also program other games as well.

i had the same problem initially.  i had  to edit my 8way map to make the center dead spot larger, once i did that it worked perfectly, and now i think it works much better than any other sticks i have used

I agree, I did the same thing and it was a pretty big difference for me and moves for games like mk were much easier to pull off.

Thanks for the reply guys.  I increased the deadspot but still can't get Chun-Li to shoot a fireball (on the u360 or the Happ 8-way).  Was she able to perform this move in all versions of Street Fighter?  I think I'm playing the "Street Fighter 2 - CHampions Ed".

btw, my instructions say to roll from back, back/down, down, down/forward, forward + fast punch. although I've been trying all kinds of possibilities

Thanks

That's correct I believe. I always found that one a bit tricky to pull off.

I think she was given that move in either the Turbo edition or Super SF2.  I don't believe she could do it in the earlier ones.

First got in Street Fighter 2 Turbo, so not in Championship Edition.  The motion for it changed at least once depending on version.

Best edition of SF2 is pretty much widely regarded as Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo, or even better is HD Remix if you have access to it  =D

Interesting...I know it was in Special Championship Edition on the Mega Drive (Genesis).

I never had a Genesis, but it appears that Special Championship Edition was based on the arcade Street Fighter 2 Turbo, so thats why the fireball was included.

This came out several months after the more aptly named Street Fighter 2 Turbo was released on SNES.  Maybe they just tried to differentiate so people would buy both?  I dunno.

Super Turbo is better than HD remix =x

And Dhalsim teleport was a later addition, the input is F, D, DF+PPP  (dragon punch motion + all punches)

If you're looking for a way to play and get some competition, check out ggpo:
