anyone using MAMEANALOG+ ???
« on: July 15, 2003, 01:07:07 am »
Please,  Just started configuring mame analog +.  Have an Opti-Pac and two Happ Trackballs...  Have the Opti-Pac with the USB cable installed.  There is a regular mouse hooked up to the ps/2 port of my PC also.  I can't get mame to use both mice at the same time.   have them both wired to the Opti-pac, checked the jumper settings.  Running win98SE, and have direct X installed... what else do I need to do?
Thanks...

Trying to get marble madness to work for two players....

any help with cnfiguration would be a big help...

EDIT:  oh sorry, late night brain didn't see the trackball problems.   Maybe I should go to bed when the little hand starts to point to 2.    ::)

There is your problem.  One trackball isn't working right.

Get it moving the cursor first... Then worry about mame.

I was told, that windows would not let both mice move the cursor, but once you load mame, you get twin Trackball control???

Which is correct?  I don't want to waste a day trying to get both trackballs moving the cursor if it is not going to work...

Both trackballs and your PS/2 mouse should work in Windows and as Player 1 in Standard MAME (not analog +).  Not sure exactly how the opti-pac handles this.

Note which trackball is not registering and switch them on the Opti-PAC, if the broken trackball works and the good one won't, your problem is in the Opti-pac or it's configuration.  If the broken one stays broken, you have a bad tracball or wiring somewhere.

The others are right.

In windows, all mice should move the cursor if they are to work in windows MameAnalog+.  If it doesn't work in windows, it will not work in Analog+, either; Analog+ uses a win9x feature in directX 7 and up, that looks for all working USB mice in addition to the normal cursor (system) mouse in windows.

Once you get both trackballs controlling the cursor, delete the cfg/*.ana file, and try running analog+ again.

I think the "not working to get working" comes from the old dos mame.  If you used serial optipac and DOS mame, then the second trackball should not work on bootup to windows, so don't worry about this.
