Replay Classic Arcade Museum Auction - 26SEP2009
« on: September 21, 2009, 11:35:32 am »
I've posted about this in the Arcade auctions thread, but since it is coming up fast and looks to be a great event, I though I would post it here. Gerald has assembled some amazing deals featuring loads of classic games and is looking to clear out some duplicates, as well as provide an alternative venue for locals to gather and buy/sell/trade stuff. Not to mention the cabinet giveaways!

From the RCAM page on Facebook:

Quote
Arcade auction..26 September, 2009. We are having a huge auction on Saturday the 26th of September. Essentially we are clearing out some of our duplicates, some consignment games, some pinball machines, boards, parts, etc. We will also be giving away a ms pacman for free to one lucky bidder. Also will have approx 5 "free" tables of parts for bidders.

Quote
Auction update..150 classic vids and pins, back glasses, free parts galore, giving away a ms pacman upright and potentially a 60 in 1 machine. Address is 74 Crockford blvd, Toronto. try to make it out if you can. Will also have approx 20 of my museum collection games available for viiewing and some free play.

Original announcement can be found on MAACA:

Quote
Hello everyone, we have a location for the museum ( Finally), it is at 74 Crockford blvd in Scarborough, near Warden and Eglinton

On 26 Sep ( Saturday) we are going to have an arcade auction, of surplus games we have been collecting for the last while, some parts, and other items. As well, I am probably going to buy about 50 more games to liquidate at this auction, mostly newer ones, to raise some more capital for the museum decor

There will be a door prize to one lucky bidder ( Have to register to win)...a working ms pacman!

If anyone has any interest in putting any of their own games into this auction, for this time only, I will put up to 2 games in the auction for free, each extra having a  flat fee of 10 $. That is all you pay, and you keep the proceeds

Afterwards, we will be putting on a little bit of a mixer for the Maaca people and some of the Cgcc guys too, as a bit of a thank you for everything to get us this far. There will be a more formal party shortly thereafter, like a grand opening for the museum.

I expect to have at least 100 video games, and pins in this auction

Comments appreciated.

PS Any assistance in getting the word out would be appreciated too

Auction starts at 11:00am with viewing starting at 09:00am.

I am planning to be there, even though I am low on disposable funds and even lower on available space.

Wow.

I just got back and have never seen so many classics and see them go for so cheap. Totally unbelievable. If I had a big trailer and a grand, I could have doubled my collection with some nice classics.

It was amazing to see no bites at a Tempest with working monitor (game board stuck in test) at $50. Utterly amazing.

Oh, and Hercules is even bigger than I thought it would be.

Only one other BYOACer there that I saw -- nice to put a face to the name for Steve -- and the usual CGCC and MAACA suspects -- and a boatload of people that I have never seen before.

I drove Mrs. Cheffo's car and left my dolly at home specifically so that I wouldn't be tempted as I have no space at all.

But, apparently something followed me home ...

One of my grails -- it just needs some caps on the monitor and a new back door.

I was the only bidder.

Can you say MultiExidy ?

I had camera issues, but did take a ton of pics with my phone. Once I get them sorted out, I'll upload them.

wow a 2p computer space? Was that real and working?  I'd love one of those just for the vintage aspect.

Love the BYOAC shirt Jeff, it was really hard to pick you out with your alias printed on the shirt too, pure genius I say.  There sure were some great deals today, it was an exercise in restraint.  I was warming myself up for the next one.  Did any of the pins go for good prices?   I am all over it when the museum is ready to go, it's not only 20 mins away.   That Cheyenne cabinet was eyeballing you all day....hehehe...

Once I finish my own, then I will be dangerous at these auctions.

I am the great "threadkiller!!"....watch me go.

Man, my phone sucks for pictures ...

First, for Zakk ... the 401, which I endured in order to make this trek ... wasn't so good on the way home ...

Parking instructions

There was a "dumping ground" in the back for scavengers to pick at:

Nice Asahi mech in there ... now sitting on my workbench ...

GRM fan Davester taking a picture of me taking a picture of him.

Davester trying to get Hyperball working ... not his machine, not his auction -- he just through it should work (success!)

Some of the cooler stuff ...

They didn't auction this, but I may go back and get it anyway ...

And, the ever-elusive BYOAC t-shirt (sorry for the dirt -- hasn't been washed yet):

Decent pictures available here

Damn nice lot of cabs. Even I would've made space for and taken the trouble to figure out what was wrong with that Tempest for fifty bucks!
