Marvel VS Capcom 2 freezing problem
« on: September 19, 2009, 01:58:07 pm »
can someone help me out.  i have a Marvel VS Capcom 2 34" showcase cab running on the Naomi system.  When i turn on the cab, everything will run okay, but after a few seconds, the game freezes.  after reseting the game a  few times, sometimes the game will run fine.   but recently it hasnt been running at all.  does anyone know a fix for this.  i have reseated the cartridge, moved around the power cable, and still bad problems.  is this a power supply problem, or something with the game.  please help.  thanks in advance, if you need any more info on the cab to help, please ask an i will respond to the best of my ablility

Probably one of the chips failing out. If its dedicated someone can help you out if you need to replace it. Or, the battery on the board could be dying if it isn't pheonixed. If it dies you're out of luck.

Marvel VS Capcom 2 is a Naomi board, not a CPS2 so there is no suicide battery.   I would clean the contacts on the cartridge with rubbing alcohol and a q-tip.  Let it completely dry and give it a try.

Oops, he even said it was Naomi. I don't know how those operate.

Ah, a fellow Naomi owner!
Are you able to go into the test menu? Try to run a ROM check on the board.
Also, use a meter to make sure the power is at the correct values (12V, 5V, 3.5V).
Any other games you could try to see if the system resets itself?
Does it reset after a few seconds, even just sitting in the test menu, or is it when it actually starts loading the game?

This should help (not mine, but from maxchainsplendid on the sega-naomi.com forums).

Are you using a Power Supply unit attached directly to the Naomi, or are you using a Capcom Jamma I/O board to power everything off a JAMMA harness?
