How to test trackball to determine dead?
« on: September 18, 2009, 03:41:09 pm »
I just got a new usb opti-wiz it works and the buttons that I have hooked up to it work as well.  I am trying to determine if the trackball got damaged in my move.  Is there a way I can test the trackball itself?  Any help would be appreciated.

Hook it up to a computer and try it out.   ;)

Trackballs are very resilient - they have to be.  Did it work before the move? Are you sure you have it hooked up right?

Thanks,
I determined that the trackball is working fine.  I was making a mistake thinking the harness would hook up the same with an opti-wiz ps/2 as a usb.  My buddy figured it out.  Different wiring is required.  Now the trackball works fine, I just need to figure out how to get it working with mame.  I know it's something simple but haven't found the right setting.
