Wico the Source
« on: July 14, 2003, 06:02:18 pm »
What up everybody?  I am in the middle of making an arcade cabinet, and I am browsing for the best place to purchase parts.  "Wico the Source" has parts at a cheaper price than just about anyone else.  They also just edited their website and their stock as well, so I am curious if anyone has tested any of their products and what the results were.

yeah, many people use wico stuff.  I had a wico tball for awhile but was having issues getting a mouse hack to work.

People get their leaf sticks from there.

Unfortunately, Wico haven't sold leaf switch joysticks for some time. They now appear to sell exactly the same stuff as Suzo. I think Suzo took them over or merged with them a year or two ago.

Wico was taken over by PAL and now they use alot of SUZA stuff, but if you go their they have all types of inventory in the back they will sell you that is not in the catalog, nor do they really know what they have...  I do believe i saw some leafs their about 3 weeks ago when i was there.  Hell they had some Leaf Rotarys!  They are in ElkGrove IL (i believe.)

Don't know what site you were looking at but they haven't updated anything online in about a year and a half. I tried to order from them. It's not the easiest thing in the world. I canceled my order buy several other people have gotten stuff from them and were happy with it. But everyone seems to agree ordering from them is like going into a blackhole. You send your order in and you won't know if it's acutually placed or not until one day it will just happens to show up at your doorstep.

My experiences over a 20 year period of ordering from Wico is more like Wico the Source....of backorders! Frequent out-of-stocks and order screw-ups.

after several orders with wico, i gotta say dealing with them is a mixed bag. prices are good, quality on par with other parts sources, but there service leaves a bit to be desired. all in all, i don't mind dealing with them(at least up to this point).

i do recommend phoning in your orders. it will save you much grief.

When I worked for a local game operator, Wico had a whole flock of traveling salesman who'd visit us and take our orders. About 8 years ago they eliminated all the salesman and things really went downhill.
