Strange "focus" issue with MaLa
« on: September 15, 2009, 07:25:43 pm »
Hi All,

I have a MaLa setup in a cabinet that is running 5 different emulators and all 5 layouts are configured to show AVIs of all games in the gamelist in a Video panel. The screensaver is turned on and runs video after 90 seconds of inactivity, all emulators are set to start with their window hidden.

Sometimes after quitting a game in any system, back in MaLa I have noticed that the mouse cursor appears in the middle of the Video panel. Even more intruiging, when I move the mouse past the edge of the video panel it disappears!

The cursor also then starts appearing on the screensaver however clicking either the left or right mouse button has no effect - the screensaver continues to run until a keystroke is pressed. After that the cursor once again shows up in the video panel and does so until the system is rebooted.

In addition to this I have also noticed that after starting some games the screensaver will also begin to run in the background. I know this because I have MaLa configured to play a sound when the screensaver starts.

I have tried turining off the screensaver which obviously fixes the second problem, however the first one remains.

I'll be replacing the standard Windows cursors with smaller, less obtrusive ones, however my main concern is that this is a loss of focus with MaLa that may result in it not responding to any keystrokes and requiring a hard reboot to recover. Seeing that I have set this cabinet up for someone else I'd prefer it to not be like that!

Is this something the MaLa Focus Logger plugin could fix? There's not a lot of info about what it actually does so I'd rather know whether it will be of use instead of just cucking it on and hoping for the best!

Any ideas or help here would be much appreciated.

Cheers,
Chris
