Thanks, would these also cover most of the console emulators also?

Sure, use Pause or Credit as your Select button.

the coin buttons make great select buttons for console emulators.

i hate having too many admin buttons...but i also hate having confusing shifted functions for common tasks.  so, pause and exit are two functions that everyone who uses your cabinet will want to use...the rest of the admin functions can be handled by shifted commands, because only you should need to do them.

If you have no volume pot on the cab you may want to wire a switch for the OSD button in mame (default is `). You can then adjust in-game volume in MAME via the joystick. Handy for late night gaming or for games with very high default volumes. I had a subwoofer in my last cab so being able to lower volume at 3am without opening it up was a godsend.

me personally prefer to put all the admin buttons behind the coin door.. but if you're not planing on that kinda setup..

i would definately put mame menu and service menu on there.

lot of useful settings in the games service menu.. some games dont use dip's or only use dip's for some things.. i know the first time i play a game i always check out the service menu & dip settings.

having access to the mame GUI is also helpful.. like someone said being able to adjust the volume is nice, if you're using one after .106 you can adjust the volume and much more from the mame GUI..

before .106 though you need to use the slider display "~" seperate from the main mame menu (say that 3 times fast)
Anyone got change for a dollar?
