General controls weirdness
« on: September 15, 2009, 05:46:16 am »
I'm not sure what anyone can do to help me here....so I may just be expressing extreme annoyance at some ethereal problem.....

A couple weeks ago, I was having input weirdness happen with P1 stick (P360). It needed lubing, so I did, and that fixed it. However, in the last couple days, very suddenly I'm having input issues on certain games, which is also affecting my U360. Essentially, in certain places on certain games - getting on in Robotron, or after a spell in Strikers1945, especially at a boss - two things will happen, sometimes flip-flopping:

- sluggish controls

- control sloughs down and to the right

This happens in MAME and AdvanceMAME. Especially Strikers, there are points that this almost always happens. Controls freeze (most oftenly) or go down and to the right.

I unplugged the U360 to see if that was the trouble, but my digital stick was still being affected. So, maybe something weird with my computer? Like, I have too much stuff plugged in USB and the buffer is getting over-run?....or, maybe something with the hard drive?

I've had only a few or less apps running while playing - obviously, cos elsewise I'd have video issues - and most of the USB & PS/2 stuff that is working at the time is controls related.

I've also been having strange issues with my wireless keyboard (distance or/and level between sensor and keyboard). Perhaps it's confusing the system?

I switched back to my arcade multisync and everything has worked right. I was wondering about this, cos it started some time after beginning to use the other monitor for a spell. So perhaps it was related to display function (drawing) interferring with mame?
