Molex Extension Cords
« on: July 14, 2003, 12:46:33 pm »
I need to build..well..an "extension cord" for one of my PC's 12 volt molex connectors......I want to power a cold cathode light to illuminate my "coin buttons" which are located under my CP's "Lip"....
I figure I'll need about 3 feet of "extension" to get it to work properly.

SO I gotta build a cable.  I may as well make a proper cable, with twin molex ends and 4 wires (just in case) but I was curious...does anyone sell these pre-made?

And do the molex (4 pin) ends come pre-built,  or do you have to order the 4 pin "plastic housing", then buy the pins individually, etc, etc.

???

I could not find one prebuilt to put in my 12V flourescent so I used a 2 way splitter that is used to add another connector for a drive when you run out of connectors.  I just cut off the plug off 1 of the splits and spliced wire to add length.  With heat shrink and a bit of twisting of the wire it does not look too bad.

The 2 way splitter is plugged into the PS plug and one plug goes to the lamp and one goes to the drive so I did not even need to use another ps connection.
