best way to fill in holes on metal cp

I'm converting a SNK P.O.W. jamma cab to another system and I want to add 1 more button because pow only has 3 per player. The cp is metal.

I have a problem that I (very stupidly) drilled new buttons holes in places I wound up not wanting to keep them.
So when I machine the holes where I want the buttons to go I'm left with a few holes from the original buttons and my newly added holes.

Short of welding the thing up, is there a way fill these holes and then maybe place an overlay over the CP? Leave them the way they are and use plexi with a painted bottom to cover everything?

I'm looking for information and suggestions. Thanks!

if you put some sort of over lay on it (to cover it up) and then add some plexyi that should be fine.

the plexi will keep people from sticking their fingers though it. and the panel should be strong enough even with that empty hole.

How about glue (no more nails or something strong) a sheet of metal below the CP. Then cut out some discs of metal slightly smaller than the holes, and glue these into the 'holes' (glue to the new metal under the CP). Finally fill any gaps between the CP surface and the discs you've just glued in place. Cover with a CP overlay...

I was thinking bondo at 1st....

Then the more I stared at the CP and looked around the web at other conversions of this cabinet, I decided to just egg shape the bad holes I made in the metal CP.

Today at work (dont tell my boss) I made a 1/8 thick plexi cover for the CP that has the extra buttons in the new improved locations. Slightly to the right and down a little.

Now I plan to order an overlay put it on the CP and then the plexi on top of that.

It should look nice. I'll post pics tonight of the CP as it is now, and then when I'm done.

So next question.

I haven't worked on a machine in a while. What are the popular places to get overlays and marqees made?

I saw this thread and figured I'd pop in.  I have a cabinet that has... well, let's say a more severe case.

When I picked up the machine it was a Lethal Enforcers II (gutted except for the monitor).  I stripped away the first layer of overlay and to my amazement I saw an MKII overlay.  They I realized there was another layer, so I peeled that back to reveal some sort of football game, and of course the horror that the metal panel is practically useless.  It has a unique design so I was really bummed.  However, I have a plan on how I may salvage it so we'll have to wait and see.

I just thought you guys would get a good laugh at my pics.

my condolences, that panel is swiss cheese.

best bet would probably to get a fresh piece of sheet metal.. put it either under it, then bondo the holes and sand them smooth.. or place it on top.
