Not everything is for sale:

There are a few things I plan on keeping for my personal collection, I need to list them since I keep getting asked about the pinball.

Not planning on selling

Scared Stiff (you offer something crazy high and I'd talk,  trade for Medieval Madness or Ultrapin maybe.)
Pop'n Fever

I am about to give up on selling off this stuff. Way too many people e-mailing and calling but not showing up.
Just today I was expecting 2 groups and neither materialized.

How do you guys keep selling or trading without going insane?

It takes a while, but you eventually become numb to people like that. I remember getting super pissed when I first started selling. Now, I don't make special plans for anyone.  You also learn to pick up on keywords and general language during a phone call. I can be halfway through a phone call with an interested party, and already know if they are coming or not.

Oh, and when they say "they'll call" to set up a viewing - that just means they're too much of a ---Bad words, bad words, whatcha gonna do? Whatcha gonna do when saint censors you?--- to say they aren't interested. Seriously, what is so bad about say "I'm not interested now that I spoke to you about it"?

P.S. that's a sweet autocensor saint.

I have long since given up on dedicating time to buyers.  I tell them when I expect to be around the house and that they can come by then.  I will not give them a time when I could be out doing anything else.  Too many don't show up and then my saturday afternoon is gone.  Not cool.  If they can't come by at 9am on sat or sun then they just don't really want to buy the item.

Maybe you can put a sign up along Route 36 this weekend, big statewide garage sale / flea markets this weekend to bring more people in to buy

How much do you want for the Guantlet machine?  I am in Des Moines, IA, so not too far away.  I wuld be interested in some of the marquees as well.

Bump

Very little of this stuff has been moved out.

I really thought I'd have a few collectors share a truck and help me clear the place out in a weekend.

Instead I have trouble even getting started on it since it is overwhelming just looking at all of it.  (What do I move first?  How much should I just throw away? What is this thing lying here?)

Amazingly, many of the visitors I have had didn't even bring trucks.

I should have been done with the moving/destroying weeks ago, but the amount of stuff is keeping me from being productive.

If you want to get rid of your stuff guess you have few choices.

1.) Load it all up and take it to the landfill or a farmers burn pit somewhere.
2.) Keep advertising and quoting prices way you are and maybe in 2 or 3 years you can get it cleaned out
3.) Take photos, put it on ebay and ship everything, maybe have it cleaned out in a year.
3.) Lower your prices and quit hording all the good stuff for yourself and offer deals to people willing to
take a truck load a time., have it cleaned out before Winter.

Kind of obvious if nobody is coming to buy anything that should be a pretty good indicator right there
what needs to be done to move these games, nobody likes a whiner...its nice to offer your stuff up
for sale to the arcade community but if there are no deals to be had then there's not much motivation
for people wanting to come and buy something from you.

Me personally think I have emailed you two or three times with NO RESPONSE, also called you a few
times on a few games that I got quoted some high prices on so for me not worth my time to drive up
to look at., sure other collectors feel the same way.

I am getting ready to go to eBay with the stuff.

I need to reach more of an audience so I can get out from under paying rent at 2 locations.
I WILL sell the smaller items off eventually, but the priority is still on the machines and fixtures because of the space involved. People that visit in person can buy either.  (I have sold several boards and parts already as cash and carry.)

I am currently working at uploading pics to my gallery. Probably going to be doing that off and on for the next day or so.

http://memoriesgames.com/gallery/v/inventory_001/

Thanks to Jim (Z) for taking the pics and dumping them all on disk for me!

I am putting descriptions of condition right on the pics.

Browse at leisure....

And as far as communication issues:
I've gotten a LOT of BS mail from Craigslist, and many legit messages got lost in the pile.

I also HAVE ignored a few intentionally. (If they smell like a scam or ask about shipping on something like the popcorn machine or ask questions answered already etc I just leave 'em alone.)

If I get the same type of questions from multiple people I just go ahead and update the info right here so everyone can get it.

I can vouch for Eric, I have worked with him on several occasions and he has always been a stand up guy, always.

Eric,
Sorry to hear your closing up shop.  Any chance your moving back to Columbia??  I would like to help out if possible, if only to give you a place to put some of the really good stuff so it does not get ruined.  I recently had to sell my snooker table in the basement so I have a lot of room.  If your interested in relocating some stuff down here just let me know.  If you feel like it, on 10/10 we are having our annual Oktoberfest Party and Poker tournament, I could certainly save you a seat, assuming some of those BJ skillz have translated into Hold em skillz also.

If those jokers had made me a partner/listened to me at Gunthers it might still be around...

I bet you feel the same way!

Columbia has the population to support what ended up flopping for me here in St. Joe.

I'd love to move back to Columbia, but in order for me to fire up the biz again I'd need a backer with a fat wallet and huge credit line.  I would NOT start over without at least pizza IN HOUSE as well.

St. Joe rolls up the sidewalks when the sun goes down. Zzzzzz

At Eric's request I have taken pictures out of my posts and inserted Eric's link to his photo gallery to conserve bandwidth/improve load time for page.

Finally got around to starting to list things on eBay.  At the moment I am hoping for the bigger audience and just listing some machines.

I will start working on the smaller items soon if shipping doesn't prove to be too much of a hassle.

Any suggestions and experiences much appreciated. I'm going to search around for some information, but if anyone wants to jump in with some or give me links that would be great.  Easy way to determine costs?  Pad selling cost enough to cover any shipping issues?

I plan on first picking up some of the flat rate boxes (USPS) to see what I can fit in those.

I have no problem with selling little items, I just don't want to waste hours of time on each one determining shipping costs and making multiple trips to the post office or shipping centers for one box.

Thanks,

-eric
