FS/FT/Free Stuff (St. Joseph MO 64506)
« on: September 01, 2009, 09:39:09 pm »
I closed my arcade in February and am in the process of selling off my later model equipment.

I currently have 2 warehouses, and I need to clear one of them out to save on my expenses.

I have 13 year's worth of stuff accumulated, and I hate to throw anything away.

Want a cheap or free 19" monitor? (Or 6, or a dozen....)
Need some coin doors?
A couple dozen coin mechs?
Marquees, bezels, backglasses...

I have a LOT of stuff I want to get rid of, and some of it I will give away. More valuable items I will ask to be paid for, but much of it I will happily take a donation and the freed space!

I have several cabinets for projects as well.

So much stuff I can't even list it all without forgetting something.

Here's one of the ads I put up on Craigslist KC:
http://kansascity.craigslist.org/vgm/1322406622.html

Make a trip out to see me, bring a truck, bring some cash, and bring home some of this stuff before it literally becomes garbage.

If anyone wants to vouch for me, speak up. (You know who you are....)

If you want a chance to pick though my mess, speak up ASAP before I have to start tossing it.

I went to one of his warehouses a couple weeks ago, the pictures on craigslist do not do it justice.  One of those moments where you turn a corner and see enough cool stuff you start thinking bad thoughts like 'how mad would my wife get' and 'how could I explain our new need for a bigger house'.  If you are in the KC area it would definitely be worth the trip, the range of games and gear is impressive.  I'll be heading back in the next week (I need to look for a loose coin door and figure out an empty cabinet for the next project), if someone needs a second set of eyes on anything in particular post it here and I'll give you a review/get pictures.

Any chance you have a Centaur backglass? Mine has some touch ups on it and I'd like to get a better one.

sorry to hear about you closing your arcade.

im also sorry to hear your warehouse is so far away :(

ah well, would you happen to have any spare midway door parts?

i've got a door came off a professor pacman.. only it's missing some parts on the 2nd coin slot.

need a coin entry bezel, coin slide, and coin chute.

also you have any coin switches? i need like 3.

how much would you ask for those items?
im in ohio so it would have to be shipped, perhaps someone going there in person would be willing?

I have no plans for the weekend so anyone that wants to come have a look get in touch with me. Plan to bring a truck or trailer and cash.

(While I will give away some stuff I am optimistic that many collectors would find enough stuff to feel like paying me a little something for parts and of course I have complete machines too.)

Would also help to write down a wishlist if you have one.  I might not be able to figure out exactly where everything is right away, but I should have some idea of whether I do or might have a particular item.

My main warehouse is inside St. Joseph, and my other shop with the monitors and piles of stuff is a few miles away. Best to visit the old shop during daylight as I don't have the power turned on there anymore...

Kansas City is about an hour away, Omaha is 2.

Drop me a line with a phone number and I will get back to you.

Feel free to try to coordinate visits with other collectors, it'll be more interesting with a group poking around together.

For some of the posts already:
I am almost 100% certain I have no vector anything.  I definitely have some midway coin doors around. The Simpsons is in very nice shape and I am looking for $700 or so.  No pinball glasses, but quite a bit of rubbers and bulbs somewhere around here.

There are a few things I could use or would like as trades:
Dot Matrix for Scared Stiff.
Ms. Pac boards, and 1 backglass, marquee and CP.
An Intel-based Mac.
Medieval Madness, Ultrapin machines.

Mostly I am trying to get rid of stuff I will never use, but there are some things I want to keep for my personal collection, and other machines need parts so I can fix them for better sale prices.

Thanks!
-eric

I also want to make it clear that this is not going to be a situation where someone opens a door and sees a barn full of mothballed classics.

We are talking monitors, boards, tools, coin doors, some artwork and other misc parts.  Nothing particularly rare that I am aware of.

I would hate to have someone make a trip out with high hopes of finding the holy grail or something.

If in doubt, ask me before planning a drive.

Thanks!
-eric

I just spoke with Eric and am planning on going on Saturday.  If anyone else is planning on making a trip give a post so we could maybe save him an extra run to the old warehouse.  I was thinking noon to 1ish.

I have had a few visitors up here this weekend.

Passed on a few coin doors and little stuff.

Z took a LOT of pics today, they'll make their way online soon.

Guys today poked around in boxes and piles and I got some stuff sorted and condensed, so even though nobody hauled off anything sizeable we made some progress in the mess.

Hoping more of you can come in before I have to start feeding dumpsters.

10/6/09    At Eric's request I have taken pictures out of message and inserted Eric's link to his photo gallery to conserve bandwidth/improve load time for page.
http://memoriesgames.com/gallery/v/inventory_001/

- - - -

Met Eric and ArcadeNerd on Saturday, the following posts have the pictures I took.  Sorry about the quantity of shots but I was trying to get a fairly complete photo inventory.

To answer ahead of time, I do not want to ship for anybody or get involved in any deals, this gear is Eric's to sell so contact him with questions.  I am just trying to help out since he has been good about answering tech questions for me.

Z

PS - Included picture of Eric's truck somewhere in here so you would know you were at the right place if you came to look at games.

This just made it even worse for me. If anyone sees any stat keys for World Series(http://www.klov.com/game_detail.php?game_id=10485) get them and I'll buy them (as long as your aren't going to be ridiculous). Love to add that to go with my World Series machine just to help "complete" my collection.

It took me a couple tries to get in touch with him (emails from my yahoo account were blocked by his spam filter), once we hooked up he has been very good to deal with (coin door and two cabs so far).

I am about to give up on selling off this stuff. Way too many people e-mailing and calling but not showing up.
Just today I was expecting 2 groups and neither materialized.

Not everything is for sale:

There are a few things I plan on keeping for my personal collection, I need to list them since I keep getting asked about the pinball.

Not planning on selling

Scared Stiff (you offer something crazy high and I'd talk,  trade for Medieval Madness or Ultrapin maybe.)

It takes a while, but you eventually become numb to people like that. I remember getting super pissed when I first started selling. Now, I don't make special plans for anyone.  You also learn to pick up on keywords and general language during a phone call. I can be halfway through a phone call with an interested party, and already know if they are coming or not.

Oh, and when they say "they'll call" to set up a viewing - that just means they're too much of a ---Bad words, bad words, whatcha gonna do? Whatcha gonna do when saint censors you?--- to say they aren't interested. Seriously, what is so bad about say "I'm not interested now that I spoke to you about it"?

P.S. that's a sweet autocensor saint.

I have long since given up on dedicating time to buyers.  I tell them when I expect to be around the house and that they can come by then.  I will not give them a time when I could be out doing anything else.  Too many don't show up and then my saturday afternoon is gone.  Not cool.  If they can't come by at 9am on sat or sun then they just don't really want to buy the item.

How much do you want for the Guantlet machine?  I am in Des Moines, IA, so not too far away.  I wuld be interested in some of the marquees as well.

Bump

Very little of this stuff has been moved out.

I really thought I'd have a few collectors share a truck and help me clear the place out in a weekend.

Instead I have trouble even getting started on it since it is overwhelming just looking at all of it.  (What do I move first?  How much should I just throw away? What is this thing lying here?)

Amazingly, many of the visitors I have had didn't even bring trucks.

I should have been done with the moving/destroying weeks ago, but the amount of stuff is keeping me from being productive.

If you want to get rid of your stuff guess you have few choices.

1.) Load it all up and take it to the landfill or a farmers burn pit somewhere.
2.) Keep advertising and quoting prices way you are and maybe in 2 or 3 years you can get it cleaned out
3.) Take photos, put it on ebay and ship everything, maybe have it cleaned out in a year.
3.) Lower your prices and quit hording all the good stuff for yourself and offer deals to people willing to
take a truck load a time., have it cleaned out before Winter.

Kind of obvious if nobody is coming to buy anything that should be a pretty good indicator right there
what needs to be done to move these games, nobody likes a whiner...its nice to offer your stuff up
for sale to the arcade community but if there are no deals to be had then there's not much motivation
for people wanting to come and buy something from you.

Me personally think I have emailed you two or three times with NO RESPONSE, also called you a few
times on a few games that I got quoted some high prices on so for me not worth my time to drive up
to look at., sure other collectors feel the same way.

I am getting ready to go to eBay with the stuff.

I need to reach more of an audience so I can get out from under paying rent at 2 locations.
I WILL sell the smaller items off eventually, but the priority is still on the machines and fixtures because of the space involved. People that visit in person can buy either.  (I have sold several boards and parts already as cash and carry.)

I am currently working at uploading pics to my gallery. Probably going to be doing that off and on for the next day or so.

http://memoriesgames.com/gallery/v/inventory_001/

Thanks to Jim (Z) for taking the pics and dumping them all on disk for me!

I am putting descriptions of condition right on the pics.

Browse at leisure....

And as far as communication issues:
I've gotten a LOT of BS mail from Craigslist, and many legit messages got lost in the pile.

I also HAVE ignored a few intentionally. (If they smell like a scam or ask about shipping on something like the popcorn machine or ask questions answered already etc I just leave 'em alone.)

If I get the same type of questions from multiple people I just go ahead and update the info right here so everyone can get it.

I can vouch for Eric, I have worked with him on several occasions and he has always been a stand up guy, always.

Eric,
Sorry to hear your closing up shop.  Any chance your moving back to Columbia??  I would like to help out if possible, if only to give you a place to put some of the really good stuff so it does not get ruined.  I recently had to sell my snooker table in the basement so I have a lot of room.  If your interested in relocating some stuff down here just let me know.  If you feel like it, on 10/10 we are having our annual Oktoberfest Party and Poker tournament, I could certainly save you a seat, assuming some of those BJ skillz have translated into Hold em skillz also.

If those jokers had made me a partner/listened to me at Gunthers it might still be around...

I bet you feel the same way!

Columbia has the population to support what ended up flopping for me here in St. Joe.

I'd love to move back to Columbia, but in order for me to fire up the biz again I'd need a backer with a fat wallet and huge credit line.  I would NOT start over without at least pizza IN HOUSE as well.

St. Joe rolls up the sidewalks when the sun goes down. Zzzzzz

Finally got around to starting to list things on eBay.  At the moment I am hoping for the bigger audience and just listing some machines.

I will start working on the smaller items soon if shipping doesn't prove to be too much of a hassle.

Any suggestions and experiences much appreciated. I'm going to search around for some information, but if anyone wants to jump in with some or give me links that would be great.  Easy way to determine costs?  Pad selling cost enough to cover any shipping issues?

I plan on first picking up some of the flat rate boxes (USPS) to see what I can fit in those.

I have no problem with selling little items, I just don't want to waste hours of time on each one determining shipping costs and making multiple trips to the post office or shipping centers for one box.

Thanks,

-eric
