Can't load layouts???

Tryed several different times to load layouts and they just aren't coming up in Mala.
I go to the GUI under layout folder and put the folder in where I have downloaded the layout from the internet.  They are usually zipped but I unzip them and mala just doesn't see the layout.  Under available layouts, there is nothing. What am I doing wrong??

After you unzipped those files, there should be files in your layout folder with the file name extension of mll.  Do you have any there?  You may want to post a screenshot of this screen:

Seems like it takes the layout but its only changing the colors of the original layout.  It does nothing else???
