Kick Harness receptacle

I need to know if someone can make me a Kick Harness Receptacle from a CPS2-A unit so that I can wire that receptacle to the screw down inputs on a J-Pac. That way I can simply unplug the kick harness from the CPS2-A and into the newly wired J-Pac receptacle instead of splicing and attaching wires via Molex connectors. Any help would be appreciated. It's not that hard.  If I get what you're talking about I'll take a photo and show you what i did for my Jamma MAME cab that I like to keep the option to return to its original SFII state.  With a soldering iron, a few minutes and about $5 at your local electronics shop you should be up and running

Great, I'd love to see it. I figured I could do it myself more or less, I didn't know where to find the receptacle that the kick harness could plug into, I was going to buy another CPS2-A board and just gut it and use that one's receptacle. I'll go look today, what guage wire did you use? I think I'll strip down an ethernet cable and use the wires from it if that is sufficient.

Any clue where I can get the piece I'm looking for? I need the part you plug the kick harness into, I can attach the wires to that I suppose, I just don't know what its called or where to find it. I always thought it was the kick harness receptacle but that isn't giving me any results when I'm shopping locally : /

Come on peoples, lots of views but no replies. There aren't any dumb answers, just dumb questions that I'm asking. Is it possible to use wire tap splices on the kick harness wires and just have the additional spliced wires go to the J-Pac? And, are tap splices reversable? They just clip onto the wire and break through the wires skin but I don't know if they sever the wire completely or if it just makes a connection. Help me please! I would just rip apart the harness but the machine I purchased broken to make a mame cab with has been restored to work with little effort and I don't want to wreck a perfectly fine marvel super heroes deluxe.

Anyway, for those curious, this is a kick harness for the uninformed.  What I was looking for is the input in the center of the picture to the right of the video/audio port, where it plugs into the black board. Thanks again, I'll do what I can if everyone is clueless.

Most taps are made to be permanent. If you want a temporary job use a tap that accepts a spade connector. You can disconnect the spade, but leave the tap in place. Don't use these types of taps where the source wire is pierced and the child wire is permanently pierced and crimped. To remove them, you have to cut the child wire which leaves an ugly stub.

On either of those taps the prongs slice the jacket on either side. If you remove the taps, the wire will be too weak and eventually break. There are needle-like taps but I can never find them in stores. Online however, there seem to be several sources. Posi-tap (Posi-Lock) is one.

As for the receptacle, the only thing I can think of is to hit up mouser or digi-key and see if they have one in stock. But you'll need to know the measurements. Otherwise, you could order some pin headers and craft your own. Might look pretty ugly though.

Anybody whos in the hobby for long really should have a digital caliper and a digikey catalog.

this way you can measure your connector, pin spacing, pin size, etc, figure out what kind of animal you have, and order it.

i wouldnt tear up any board just for the connector, unless someone sat on it and cracked it in half.

I remember when i first got into this i used to blindly order stuff from digikey. and then when it got here i wondered why it didnt work.

But, but..  I ordered a 36 pin card edge connector.

If you've been in any hobby involving electronics, you'll amass a collection of components. You should have at least something that can mate, or if not, enough to figure out what you need.

Of course, I was an idiot when I was younger and threw a lot of "useless" components out. I think that's because I didn't reach enlightenment until just a couple of years ago. Oh well.
