ive always heard that the best way to do this is to get ahold of an old game port based analog stick from the 386 age, and wire your analog flight yoke up to the board.

only other thing you need to do is replace the arcade potientometers with 100k pc compatible pots.

i havent tried it yet though so, use this advice as you feel fit to.

The OptiWiz is for optical controls.

For something pot-based, you could look at

http://www.ultimarc.com/a-pac.html

or something like a Sidewinder hack ... or look at switching out the pots ...

so will the u-hid nano do what i need  for 2 pots (up/down , left /right )
 http://www.ultimarc.com/JShopServer/section.php?xSec=13
then i guess i would still need a button encoder (i need 4 button  inputs as well ) or does it include some button inputs (man i hate ultmarc their site has such bad  descriptions  of their products  gg is so much better)

We paid particular attention to documentation on the U-HID and I believe its well covered, with a full PDF manual and connection examples etc including pots.

nither of thoes links work for me
i see the specs on the full u-hid but  i am only needing the 8 pin version  so if you could explain the specs and avail inputs on it  as the websit does not really go in depth on the 8 pin version only the full u-hid device

Links work for me.  Are you accessing from work, that has some web limiting policy?  edit: I couldn't reach the site for a short while, but is back up again.

The nano is basically a normal u-hid, except with only 8 input/output pins (+1 a ground pin), vs the u-hid's 50 connection pins.  Each of the 8 nano's pins can be individually assigned to analog joystick, joystickk button, keyboard key, mouse button, mouse axis, LED (output), or +5v (output).

Each analog axis needs one pin, plus a +5v source, which can be either another (shared) pin or an external source.  Each button needs one pin, plus the (shared) ground pin.  So: 2 analog axes pins, + 4 digital pins + 1 +5v pin = 7 pins.  You still have at least one more free pin, and two if you get the power from somewhere else..
