Pole Position 2 ROM 4K
« on: August 08, 2009, 09:51:38 pm »
Trying to find out any information at all about a ROM hack for a Pole Position 2 that consists of a standard 2716 ROM with a PROM piggybacked on top of it with jumper wires everywhere.

This all come about when helping a friend fix a ROM location 4K issue. (error IC25)
There is a three ROM set that can be burned to repair/replace the 4K, so we've already done that. (although it seems to have a mix of NAMCO and ATARI track signs on certain tracks)

But in the process we had several converted Pole Position 1 boards to salvage parts from if need be.
A couple of those boards had this "piggybacked" ROM in location 4K.

So....... why not investigate it right ?
his machine is up and running fine now, but figured with all the research it took to fix that one, might as well poke around with this solution. (although I'd probably never actually use it)

Anyone ever seen something like this or know any data information that may be on the ROM or the PROM? (I have tried to read either yet, just diagrammed them so far)

Will get some better pics later.
