What buttons would you like to see labeled?
« on: August 04, 2009, 12:43:03 am »
Edit: I've updated the list with some of the ones mentioned.

I wasn't sure the best place to post this, so I hope this works.

I am looking at expanding the labels that I currently have in sets available, but I would really like to get a sense for what people would actually use.

Here is my starter list.

Coin x4
Credit x4
25c x4
P1 icon
p2 icon
p3 icon
p4 icon
Mouse Icon (buttons 1,2,3)
Power Icon
Arrows for button direction (4)

Info
Save
Load
Audio
Turbo
Exit
Esc
Emu
Lists
Play
Pause
Vol +/-
Reset
Start
Enter
Back
Select (squeezed a bit)
Admin
Letters A-F
Xbox Buttons (A,B,X,Y,LB,RB,...)
menu
Flip (x2)
Launch? for a pinball plunger

What I am looking for is other words or icons that would be commonly used.  The word "Reset" is about the longest  word that will fit easily on a button.

How about:

Enter
Back
4 arrows (for up, down, left and right)

+1 for "Menu"

I guess "Select" won't fit, so I'd go with "Enter"

I need more than one labeled "Start"...

Pongo , the ones you have plus "menu" sound good to me...
What about "instruction cards"? (placed on the monitor bezel) I know that would be more of a custom job though...
I have several emulators and each button is different for each emu...
( my cab uses Hyperspin and i have the x-arcade tankstick for the cp)

How much do you charge for what you have? I've been interested since i've seen your work...

Great idea, great list.  The only item I have on my panel that's listed already is:

Fast Forward (2 triangles, a la an old tape deck button)

(quite possible that I'm in the minority on that one, though...)

Thanks,
-Jason

Do you have a graphic you could use for a plunger (for pinball games)?  On my setup I set the joystick as the plunger (pull back on stick acts as pulling back on plunger) but having a labeled button would be one less thing to explain to guests.

Thanks for the suggestions,... keep em coming if you have any more. I have updated the list to include some of the suggestions.

I hope to be able to build a new "menu" for ordering vinyl soon. I realized there was a lot of redundancy in the current set #3 (see here)
http://www.andimages.com/proofs/pongo/set3.pdf

For example, there are 12 coin labels (4 coin, 4 coin in a circle, 4 25c) I'm sure you would only use one of those, so I'd like to take out the others and replace them with ones you may find more useful.

The top icon portion is pretty easy, so I think the new set will always include them. The bottom portion will be more customizable. Of course you can always customize whatever you wish, but it's just easier if the options are already there.

I agree with you about the coin labels. 12 of 'em is maybe a bit much...
I'd like to have the possibility to change the US currencies to £'s (pounds) and €'s (euros) for the Europeans.
And "Quit" might be nice to have as an alternative to "Exit".

Sometimes it seems appropriate to just label it "Give up" :lol

I would definitely like to see Enter make the list. I am new here. How do I place an order with you?

I have a "select" button from Pongo and it looks great.  I didn't even notice that it was squeezed.  I'll have to attach a pic of it when I get home for all to see.
