terminal blocks
« on: July 30, 2009, 02:58:43 am »
looks like im gonna need quite a few, curious where is the cheapest place to get them?

groovy gamer has 12 terminal blocks for 1.35, anyone else have them cheaper?

whats the dimensions of the ones over at GGG?

need at least 28 positions for my controls, i've got 2 hacked game pads mounted on a 13inch wide piece of wood.

pictures would be good, especially showing it's mounting holes, are they suitable for cutting in sections?
Anyone got change for a dollar?

Euro style terminal strips are availiable in a range of sizes depending on the current rating. I imagine the ones at GGG will either be 3A or 5A

I'm sure Randy would tell you the dimensions of the strips he has in stock.

There is a ring inbetween each terminal that you can use to mount them with a screw etc. They are easily cut into sections by cutting though the rings. You can mount them next to each other if you want a longer strip (in your case you would want two full strips and then an extra two cut off another one).

As for pricing you could probably get them cheaper somewhere (I'm in the UK so I can't give you any suggestions) but at $1.35 they are harldy going to break the bank especially if you are ordering other stuff from GGG as you will save on two lots of shipping.

Easy tiger!

I sometimes use these and picked up a pack of ten for next-to-nothing. Get the length from Randy, then go and check them out in your local hardware store before going back to Randy to order.

Yes, you can just chop them inbetween the terminals with a scalpel or stanley to the required number.

You can get black ones too which I find more aesthetically pleasing.

whats the bestway to contact randy? pm here or email?

i'll check the hardware store, i never would have thought to check there, i checked radio shack and they want like 3-4 bucks for the same 12 position terminals, which is crazy.

lol, im working out the details of my project, although it's still in the early stages i'd rather work out as many of the details i can before placing orders so i dont have to go back later and eat another shipping charge.
