Quick Diode Q
« on: July 10, 2003, 02:01:51 pm »
Hate to bring up an old topic, but in the past we found that a good way to share an Ipac and Dreamcast is to use diodes (so current only goes one way). Does anyone know if I can use 1N4625 5.1V zener diodes, i know Bob Roberts has 1N4733 5.1V ones but I already bought the ones previously mentioned. Thanks
Derek

One 5.1 Zener should be just like another. I just checked my semiconductor compatibility guide, and the curves look identical.

Excellent! So do I just solder two wires to each end of the diode?

there was a picture i posted somewhere about how to wire up a diode, but i can't find it...

my setup is:

Controls ~ IPAC ~ Diode(s) ~ Hacked DC pad
(~ = wire)

you gotta have the diode inbetween the IPAC and the DC pad, with the positive end facing AWAY from the pad (+tive end usually has a coloured stripe around it)
