Mame files
« on: July 17, 2009, 02:32:44 pm »
Would it be inappropriate to trade working Mame installs roms removed of course, with other members as a way to try out new front ends and layouts ? Still new here not wanting to ask to do anything banned .

Thanks Tom

I'm not really sure why you would want to do that in the first place...  I'm not sure where the "with other members as a way to try out new front ends and layouts" would come into play.

I don't think you'll get banned for it, but hosting pre-compiled versions of MAME is against the MAME TOS.  Of course trading roms will definitely get you banned.  MAME is very easy to compile and it is easily accessible to anyone that has access to the internets.

I was not meaning it as a way to violate terms of service more like  I have set up mame/this front end this way and took the time to get it working.I belive since  all the mame/front ends seems to run from just one folder in the root directory it would seem possible to  move that from one pc to another. Then to copy that folder to a USB key or external drive and swap back and forth with others as a way to try out their set ups. If that's against any rules i certainly apologize just a newbie to this forum question.
