2-Player Fighter Cabinet
« on: July 22, 2009, 06:58:26 pm »
i am current;y in my designing phase for my cabinet a 2 player - 1x joystick ea - 7 buttons ea.- 2x start buttons - 2x coin buttons - 1x exit button -1x power button

i was looking at the moon patrol cabinet design that looks good but needs to be a bit wider which can be adjusted

i was just wondering if there was a good cabinet plan out there i can look at (i'm not to good at designing)

did you have to make any adjustments on the plans?

did you notice anything that was uncomfortable?

What size Monitor did you use?

I adjusted the plans ever so slightly to fit my needs etc but not too much / as much as Portnoy did.

the monitor i ended up using was a 20/21 inch JVC TV

for some reason I never uploaded the pics with it all up and running !

there is nothing massively uncomfortable about it, but its been out of action for many months since someone broke into it and basically wreaked it  :banghead:

I can dig out my slightly altered plans if you want but if I do send you them beware! they're not quite correct ! I made a lot of it up as I went along

the control panel looks like it has very little space do you think its enough for 7 button

do you have the dimensions of the cp only

lol trying to sleep here  ;D

Here is a quick screenshot with a few basic dimensions, i doubt it would take 7 buttons.

Having never really seen a true arcade machine .. ever... until say last weekend (insert coin 09) i just made things fit until it looked right, 2 player on that is doable but neither I or anyone I know is any good at any game really so it works for us!

PS it plays a mean game of robotron  ;D

well apparently a moon patrol is the same as a joust cabinet except the moon patrol is 24inch wide and the joust is 26.

the CP messures 24.5inch wide, and roughly 6.5inch tall.

i say roughly on the height because it has a rounded edge.. which takes up some space on the under side.

im planing on going with a 6 button layout.. although i have'nt done a mock up yet.. it will be tighter then i'd prefer.. i may possibly scale it back to 4 since i plan on maming a 4p konami cab, which has lots of CP room.

so i'd guess the moon patrol is 22.5 inch in width on it's CP since it's 2inchs narrower over all.

also take into consideration the lip's the side panels create where it meets the CP. im currently thinking of making the new CP about a inch taller so the side panel lip is'nt as high.

P.S if you can also tuck buttons on the underside or front of the CP.. for example admin buttons under the CP. and start on teh front.

but space will probably still be tight.
Anyone got change for a dollar?
