My Homebuilt Jukebox

My first attempt at a touchscreen jukebox, Screen is an IBM EPOS all in one computer which I paid £1 for on a car boot sale! Front "light organ" was £2, "ambilight" things on back and underside  were £2, Case is a recycled from an Ikea TV cabinet, Technics speakers were free, Amp came from China via Ebay for £20. My only major outlay was £28 for the full version of Albumplayer which I think is excellent.

I asume they create a nice glow around the cab when it's backed up to a wall. I did it with my wallmount but when i had them flashing it was too much, static it created a cool effect though.

If its too much flashing then put a resistor so that they partially glow all the tiem and just get brighter with the beat - makes that sort of thing a lot more tame. LEDs have a very hard on and off which makes them just flashing not very plesent for a beat activated light. We did it to some on a sub box in a friends car and it makes it much more tollerable.

I used cold cathodes but i assume the principle is the same, i don't know what the inverter is throwing out though.

They are designed for boy racers to put under the wheel arches of their cars, I was thinking of the "ambilight" idea that some tv's have. There is a control box that lets you have them on or off or a choice of different flashing patterns or you can have them flashing to the music as there is a microphone in the control box (and the sensitivity is adjustable too).
