Where/How can I buy a decent pinball machine?
« on: July 17, 2009, 11:08:11 am »
I've never purchased a pinball (or arcade machine) before and I'm a little confused on how to get started on this hobby...

I'm not even sure what pinball machine that I want, but I definitely want something newer and at least somewhat "modern" with an LED screen (eg. Terminator 2).

Speaking of Terminator 2, that's one of the only machines that I remember playing and absolutely loved it.  Doing a quick search on Google shows that new machines are being sold for $2500 and used ones for about $1800.

I'm a software developer (for the government) and have a tiny bit of electronics experience (just basic soldering!) but it sounds like a fun project to repair an old machine and get it working; especially if I could save some money.

So... where should I begin looking?  I've checked Craigslist and eBay for local machines but can't really find anything but then again, I'm not sure what machines are "newer", etc.

I'm located in the Northeast (Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, PA)...

Thanks for any advice!

You might want to check out the pinball section on this one...I too am in the process of trying to find a pinball machine. Those newer machines are more expensive...and i'm not even going to discuss shipping....You are best with checking the craigslist for local listings...( least expensive)...good luck...
