Rowe RI-5 record arm not returning record
« on: July 15, 2009, 01:24:11 pm »
Hi my RI-5 puts the record down to play but doesn't return it. The arm returns without the record. Then it intermittenly stops halfway through the lowering process. At that point when I hit the service switch it lowers but again does not grab the record after the song. any ideas?

Hi Bizman,

Check your tone arm can to see if it is broken.
Somtimes a piece plastic on the atm may break off (this is usually on the very thin section) also the locating peg that fits in the collar can break off.
I have even seen that one of the two pegs on the rear of the guide plate assembly can break off (these two pins follow the tone arm cam).
