Dpad controller?
« on: July 08, 2009, 06:01:52 pm »
Does anyone know any type of Dpad (directional pad) joystick?  Just the Dpad part of it.  Like a 4 or 8 way button.  I Can't seem to find one.

I'd like to add one to my cabinet, but not having any luck :(

Find an old Gravis pad on ebay maybe?

The top one that looks like a SNES controller:

The original one was for a game port.  You might want to look into the Gravis Gamepad Pro USB version.  It looks a bit different, but it's USB out of the box.

I'm assuming you mean a D-Pad that fits in a control panel like a push-button. There was one a longtime ago on here but I can't find it at the moment....

How would you use one of those?  A D-Pad is designed to work with a thumb, but there's no way to get your hand around a CP.   :dunno

  • Yeah, owning a MAME cab only leads to owning real ones. MAME just isn't good enough. It's a gateway drug.

I've seen threads where people have been shown where to find them, but I've never seen one installed. I don't see the point of having one, either. You can't play a game using one, and if it's for menus, just use the joystick.
