I still think somebody would make a killing selling wooden candy cabs in the US.
Duly noted, though for the UK market. Been working on some more new designs (including a candy-style) as I think it's time we extended our 2-player range to accommodate a few more tastes.
The thing I find ironic about this thread is that usually I'm battered by the purists when I defend LCD monitors, yet it seems most couldn't care less here as this modern design has won them over. Personally I've never cared much for any of those candy-style cabinets as they don't look or feel like anauthentic arcade machine, though I can respect the play position, the clean finish and the weight/size saved with their design.
The reason most here and other boards desire the Vewlix is the same reason we desire any cabinet. It is the OEM hardware for the game we want to play on it, or represents the best possible equipment for playing a game.
I want a Vewlix for the following games.
SFIV
Street Fighter HD
Soul Calibur IV
Tekken 6
Virtua Fighter 5
all of which were designed with HD LCD monitors in mind.
That's not to say that I wouldn't want to play SFIV or any of those other games on a Sony 34" XBR HD CRT inside some sort of custom built widescreen lowboy rig.

Wonder how hard it would be to decase one of
these:
