The other day somebody pointed this out.

Looks like you'll have to order the triggers and whatnot somewhere else, but yeah, somebody is making aftermarket Tron handles!

E-mail him quick, he's got a '2 sets for $100' special going on..and he's only got like 8 sets left cause he only cast 10 sets of the correct blue colouring before the mold died, and he sold 2 on ebay, and thenwhen he's sold out he'll only..umm..ah...I'll just copy/paste his post...:-)

Yes they do - I needed a replacement leaf and trigger for my tron stick and their internal stuff fits perfectly.  

The way to do it is this: write down all the part numbers you need from their exploded view of the happ gorf stick.  Then go to your shopping cart - there's a link on the top.  enter in the part # in the'Add an Item #" field and you're good to go.

I found this out when I was building my cab last year - i needed just a few pieces...since they manufacture the stuff you'd think they'd have a bin somewhere of 'gorf triggers part 96-2528-00' or something.  Sure enough  - they do

Happ sells everything separate.  As Frosticillus said, or you can call and talk to a live person, as they also have items not mentioned on their website (Like the Midway Comp joysticks with the stiffer springs/switches that OSCAR likes).

Brand new Happ trigger sticks are $109.  You're only getting the handles here...you'd still need to actually graft this to a joystick and mount triggers on it, wouldn't you?  What am I missing?

Well, he's including triggers on some of these, and I already have two happ supers with cheap trigger sticks on them, just need to replace them with these babies!  Besides, I don't know about you, but the massive bases on the Happ sticks won't fit inside my CP...

Besides, I figured out all the extra hardware you need from happ (trigger switches, trigger mounting brackets screws and return springs, thumbswitch plate and at least one thumbswitch) only adds about $12 to the total price.  If you've got a couple extra sticks to hack, and if you can get 2 handles for $100, that's $50 each for the handles, total of $62 each as opposed to $111 for ONE of the happ heavy duty sticks, with one trigger and one thumbswitch.  I dunno, sounds pretty good to me!

Also, the happ ones are grey, the translucent red or blue ones just look a lot better!  Got one of each coming my way this week!

Be easy enough to add if they don't.  1/4" hole in the handle and you're all set.

The thumbswitch plate comes with 2 holes in it, you can cover the extra hole by adding an overlay of some sort...

Happ also sells the plates with either 1 hole or no hole:
96-2542-02 ---> 2 holes
96-2542-01 ---> 1 hole
96-2542-00 ---> 0 holes

i guessed at this by just changing the last 2 digits.   good news for DOT purists  Though you still might want a small overlay...so it doesn't really matter that much...

Oh, and for the TRON stick insert I used this from CAGA: http://www.arcadecollecting.com/caga/misc/TronStickInsert.zip
I printed it on heavy paper, laminated it, and trimmed it down - it's pretty sturdy, but I wouldn't put a button in it.

That's what I was looking for.  That makes sense.  

I guess the only downshot that I can see is that you still have to hack apart an existing stick (like a Super), which I'm sure would take away from the authenticity of it...especially the feel.  Good info though, so thanks.

I just got my first tron handle in the mail!  I will post a review as soon as I get it all put together.  It did come with a trigger, and a 2-part screw that holds the top together, but I'll be on my own for all the other bits...stay tuned...

Wow, that sounds great, but they really do sound expensive. Can't you Ebay one cheaper? I realize it will be used but how different could it be? My used, complete Tron stick looks pretty darn good. Doesn't a loose stick go for way less than $60? (I haven't really followed the prices.)

True, but then it's really hard to find a complete original handle (both halves) that isn't cracked, or scratched up.  And just the fact that they're usually 15+ years old makes the risk of breakage greater.  On the other hand, I have found some shortcomings with the new stick that I will go into later...
