Stereo speaker that'll fit in a 6x9 spot?
« on: June 21, 2009, 08:50:05 pm »
I'd like to have stereo audio with at least a tiny bit of seperation without modifying the original cab which has a single 6x9. Suggestions?

you could probably mount two 4inch speakers in that opening, sitting at an angle so that they point slightly away from each other, although you would lose some of the low end audio...so a subwoofer might be a good idea if you go that route

Looks like "dual voice coil 6x9" is what you want to search for for this kind of thing.  I'd be curious to hear if anyone here has ever used any of these and if you get anything out of it actually being stereo instead of mono with the tiny separation:

I wonder if you angle the two little speakers out if that'll help like severdhed mentioned?

Maybe you could run a MONO 6x9 with stereo tweeters off to each side.

That is a great idea!  Could mount the tweeters in a nondestructive way and still keep the original sound of the cabinet!!  Could get one of these dual voice coil hobbies and mod it, or buy the parts separately. I'll have to figure out how to wire it. That'll give me something to research tomorrow!!  :)
