Question about multi game jamma boards

Hi, I have a question about some of the multi game jamma boards i have been seeing. 
Like this one for example no links to these please. Thanks. ---saint

My question is, are these legal boards?  I have a restaurant I want to put a cabinet in and something like this would be good but I want to make sure it is legal and I can get it stamped and everything with out trouble.

Anyone know, also has anyone used anything like this?  Are they user friendly and stable, coin operation ready, etc...?

Legal AND not a fortune ... not really.

Closest thing would probably be an Ultracade and those are still pricey, even used (no longer available new AFAIK).

I would recommend hunting down the Namco Classic Collection volume 1 or 2 (vol 1 is space themed) which has 3 classic games, plus "remixed" versions with better graphics.

Depends.  Saying williams multi game is kind of vague as there are several different versions by different people and manufacturers.

1. The one that came in a cabinet that would be sold at Target or Costco (legal)
2. The one that goes on an actual williams pcb like Robotron, etc.
3. JROK's multiwilliams board
3. The ones on emulator boards (not legal) (there are a few different versions of this, but they are all not legal)

If one is available at Target, definitely check to see if it is licensed for commercial use. I would imagine it would only be for home use.

There's also the one from ArcadeShop where you hook it up to your PC to load it up with the ROM data. That one is probably legal. Technically, a reproduction of hardware is completely legal (patents expired), but including any of the original software is not (copyrights not expired).

Did the Target version even have coin mechs?  Those things were cheap and would definitely not stand up to any sort of commercial use.  Really rough play could rip a CP right out.

That one uses emulation and isn't a reproduction of hardware.  I think they use the PC thing to get around them being sued only the person using it.
