Help with electrical. I think I have the supplies
« on: June 15, 2009, 03:04:16 pm »
Hello all,

Had a concept in my head for a jukebox a while ago, just now getting around to actually doing it.
I believe I have everything I need. What Im going to do is build an enclosure out of wood. I have a 15" monitor(not touch) that I am going to use.
Also have an old computer I am going to throw into the bottom. Also, already have my software.
What I need to know is how to hook up the buttons.
What I am going to get are 10 happ buttons for the numbers 0-9, 2 happ buttons for forward and back shuffle, and 1 happ button for next song.
I am also going to get an I-PAC2.
Is this all I need to control what is on my screen by using buttons?
Are the buttons very hard to hook up to the I-PAC?
If there is anything I am missing, any help would be appreciated.

Thanks Again
J

Depends on the software your using for your jukebox.

If you could elaborate on the software, then we can guide you in the right direction.

Also it depends on what YOU want the jukebox to do. If you just want it to play songs that are chosen, a kill song button, random play button, credits???  ???

Give us some more details and we will help you out!

im using SK jukebox.
I have it all set up to run off of a regular keyboard.
I also only want the jukebox to be able to go forward, backwards through the albums, and also when you want to pick a song, use the 0-9 number buttons.
Also, in the back I want to wire a kill button to cancel the song choice if I don't like what someone else played.
Hope this helps.

I basically want to put in buttons to control what I already have the keyboard doing.
I just want to know exactly what to purchase so i don't go spending my money in the wrong places.
Just need to know if I can run buttons into the I-PAC to use as controls instead of a keyboard.

I-PAC or KeyWiz is the way to go then!  ;D

I prefer I-Pac!

You will need to download WinIpac from Ultimarc's website http://www.ultimarc.com/winipac_1_2_16.exe setup your panel on the screen to the way you want it, then program the IPAC. Should only have to program it 1 time!

I have made a jukebox using SK jukebox, same button description your going to use, a kill song button, random play button, volume up & down buttons and on the back a button for Options and I also used a regular arcade pushbutton to power on and off the jukebox!

I have used an I-pac and the jukebox original keys, have hacked keyboards etc. so far the best results were with a wireless usb keypad. Has extra buttons that most juke programs will allow you to remap to whatever function you want.
also has shift function so you can double them and have twice the controls.
