2 top guns drawing too much power?
« on: June 09, 2009, 12:06:07 am »
I just got 2nd topgun and the whole setup acts weird. When I use both guns at the same time one will within 30 sec starts delaying/stops registering shots and recticle begins to freeze in one spot and then it just disappears along with ability to play. After exiting to windows, 2nd arrow is gone also and 2nd gun is not recognized, untill I restart computer. I just disconnected recoil function on both guns and now it seems to work fine.

I've got hooked up 2 guns, 2 spinners, trackball (through spinners' own encoders) set of leds for the guns and wireless usb stick. There is only small v-card in the system that does not require it's own power, 2 hd drives, e8500 which supposedly draws less power and all is powered by 500W PSU (supposedly)
I will live w/out recoil function if I have to but, dammit, I paid for it!
Any ideas?

recoil is a pain- I switched it off long ago. Same issues as you and since switched off no problem

It does work with a powered hub.  But seriously it gets old fast.

Basically
1. Switch of recoil on both and see if they behave just plugged into the m/b
2. If not try putting the guns on a powered hub (recoil off) and try again
3. If now ok try recoil on the hub.

Most PC's have piss poor power supplies to the usb ports- and they don't like the recoil function. I've tried 3 m/b and all the same result- only a powered hub (decent quality) worked
