$110.00 from another vendor available at that link for a new one.  Or $35.00 for a used one.

Plus shipping.  $110 price above includes shipping.  That said,  the ThinkGeek link would cost me $107.03 total...so still cheaper.

  • Yeah, owning a MAME cab only leads to owning real ones. MAME just isn't good enough. It's a gateway drug.

It never went anywhere. I own three and I'm still thinking I might buy one from ThinkGeek.

If these NOS sales keep going, the dreamcast might actually achieve a decent user base.  I wouldn't be surprised if the homebrew community starts up again on it.

Sega has actually put the Dreamcast in limited production on a few occasions now.  Mainly cause Sega has ALWAYS sold the DC on their online store and hasn't stopped, but also for deals like these.  Not a huge money maker but it keeps the fanboys happy.

Honestly it's a neat machine.  I think of it as 'The little console that just couldn't quite'

The system still has some homebrew coming out. Hypertension, and Dux later this year. Wind and water puzzle battles came out a few months ago, and I've had mine since launch. It's the little system that does amazing things.
Newbie in working on cabs, expert in playing, breaking, moving slowly, and overall failing at them too.

Hate to burst your bubble, but it was the DVD Player that put PS2 at the top.  It was said that the best selling PS2 game for the first couple years was 'The Matrix on DVD'.  In it's first day of release, the PS2 double the ammount of Japanese homes that were DVD capable.  The PS2 helped bring on the DVD revolution in 2000.  There were certianly other factors, but the fact that the thing was a $299 DVD player when DVD Players cost a lot more was a massive boost.  Sony also had previous exclusive deals from the PS1 era which moved up with the PS2 as well.  Not to mention that the PS2 did have better graphics capability overall and it's DVD capability meant that the PS2 could operate HUGE games off of a single disc where as the DC was limited to 1GB.  Not to be a jerk, but the PS2 has a better controller by far. :)

But my DC still gets use and it's top teir titles look wonderful on VGA output.  We can't even get VGA output of a PS2 since it doesn't really do RGBHV. :/

Too bad the PS2 never got a Datyona USA port.  That woulda been sweet.

I totally agree on you, this is the same move that Sony did with the Ps3. Most of the bluray players that are being sold are PS3 consoles.
