Would anybody object?
« on: July 05, 2003, 10:51:55 pm »
Would anybody object if I went ahead and openned up an account at cafepress.com for BYOAC and MAME merchandise? It's wouldn't be for me. It's cuz we don't have anything like that here yet. I noticed mameworld.com has an account with them.

I could either set the prices to make no profit or any profit I make would be donated back to BYOAC. What does everybody think of this? I don't wanna go through with it if nobody agrees.

If you could really funnel the profits back into the site, I would love to "wear the colors", so to speak.
However, I'm just a noob, and I think the votes of some of the heavies should carry much more weight than mine.

I don't object, but my permission isn't worth anything.

I'd buy stuff, as long as the "profit" margin wasn't too high.

Have you asked this on the "Logos" forum?  Those are the guys with the investment in the stuff to put on t-shirts.

Well no progress ever gets made on the Logos forum. That's why I brought it up here. This idea was actually first brought up there, but it wasn't being discussed.

There may be people around that could make a full order for shirts or something and then sell them, but that requires planning, setup, pre-orders and all other kind of crap that nobody around here wants to deal with. Plus this cafepress.com does more than just shirts. They do mugs, stickers, etc.

I may not get around to it today, but I think I'm just gonna go ahead and set up an account. If there Planetjay, Saint, or anybody else objects then I'll go ahead and take it down at that time. Otherwise I can simply give them the store. (No skin off my back. It's free, anyways.)

Nevermind... There is a shop at cafepress.com but it's not advertised. The name was already used when I tried to register it, though. However, they only have 1 shirt, and it uses the logo from the BYOAC main page. Don't know who owns the shop, though. On top of that, the shop may be hidden because I couldn't find it through normal searching...

It's at:

http://www.cafeshops.com/byoac/

However, the only thing posted is a test item. It's a t-shirt with the graphic form the main page.

It would be nice to get some admin feedback, though, wouldn't it?
