mala mame resolution question
« on: May 30, 2009, 06:35:59 pm »
i read the wiki, and i searched for a bit, and i'm CERTAIN this answer is out there, but i couldnt find it.

this is not really a mala question, but since i'm using mala, i'm posting here.

I run mala at 640x480i (best resolution i can on my arcade monitor)  i use this resolution for alot of the stuff , like console emus etc, through mala

but for some reason, i cannot get mala to launch mame in 320x240 or something closer to a stardard arcade res, i've messed with my mame.ini, i'm using binary dos mame, i've done both d3d and dd,

ideally i'd like mame to launch in 320x240,  and when i exit out, i'd like my desktop to go back to 640x480i for mala menu.

just looking for someone to point me in the right direction.

i figured this out, for anyone else that may have this problem in the future

there is a switch in mame called switchres, and if that is 0, it will not change your res on load.

i found this out by running mame -v and looking at the reason why it wasnt doing what i wanted.

Um, yeah, helps to understand how mame and native resolutions work.
