Bizzaro apple behavior in Mspac
« on: May 30, 2009, 03:01:35 am »
I was on the third light blue board, I ate the first apple, which wasn't close to a tunnel, there was this weird 'woo woo woo woo woo' sound, ANOTHER apple appeared from the top left tunnel - and then it disappeared!  Has anyone seen that before?

You went past the 2nd fruit trigger before eating the 1st fruit. I'm guessing you were playing in turbo, as it's alot easier to do that in turbo than regular speed.

Nooo. I hate the speed hack. I guess you hadn't noticed. Anyways, I guess I should've looked up the book on that.

Oh duh, yeah, I forgot you hated the turbo version ;D To be a little more descriptive in case someone might not know what I'm talking about, on the Pac games, you have to eat a certain amount of dots to trigger the fruit to come out. If you eat too many dots before eating the first fruit and reach the 2nd dot trigger amount, it can't trigger the fruit since the 1st one is still out there. I'm not sure if it's possible to do it on Pac-Man regular speed, since the fruit doesn't stay out very long, but it's probably possible on turbo. On Ms Pac, since the fruit bounces around the maze, it stays out for alot longer, and it's definitely easy to do on turbo. I think they fixed it on Jr Pac, as sometimes if you've had the prize (no fruits on jr pac) out for a long time, then eat it, another one appears immediately.

Jr. Pac is just kinda weird on prizes, seems to me. Aren't there more than two, also?

I believe you get 4 prizes on Jr Pac...not sure what happens if you eat all the dots but one and leave it bouncing around and then eat it though ;) Another thing with Jr, the prize seeks out an energizer and bounces toward it. If it reaches it, it blows up (taking out both the prize and energizer in the process). It also flattens any dots it hits, making them worth 50 pts, but it takes Jr longer to eat a flattened dot, so it's easier to get caught by a ghost. Sometimes it'll bounce right over an energizer and not destroy it,  probably due to its seeking out a specific one (and that one not being it). I played quite a bit of this while at the Funspot tourney at the end of May (it wasn't part of the tourney, I just played it alot ;D ) and still only got about 67K after I don't know how many games...that game is just plain rough!

Yeah, it's pretty intense. It's a close run between it and Mspac for me. I like 'em both a lot. I don't know whether I've seen a prize miss an energizer.
