Bally Rectifier Board J3 Connector Wiring Question
« on: May 22, 2009, 09:12:31 am »
Can anyone tell me the correct wiring order and colours for a rectifier board J3 on a Bally Space Invaders?

I'm replacing the rectifier board and a previous owner has soldered the J3 wires direct to the board, I guess because of connector problems.

Here's a pic;

If anyone can tell me the pin number and correct wire colour I'd be very grateful - I want to be sure they are right!

You can find tons of info here:
http://www.pinrepair.com/bally/index.htm

And specifically, your manual canbe found here:
http://www.ipdb.org/files/2252/Bally_1980_Space_Invaders_Manual.pdf

with the J3 pinouts and colors in the schematics toward the end of the PDF.

Thanks for the reply Neverending Project. I have both of those documents but being a bit of a newbie still I didn't realise that the number reference on the connectors referred to the colour of the cable!

Now I can proceed with the new connector and check some other connectors that I've been worrying about.

Many thanks, really appreciate the help.

Gajaman,

Replace and recrimp all of your molex connectors. I know it sounds extreme, but it will save you from an even bigger head ache down the line. I guarantee you that if the guy was this lazy with the rectifier board, then he was lazy with the rest of his repairs on this machine. People dont like to do the whole recrimp thing and pass it off. But, most pinball problems start at the connectors.
