22"-ish Monitor for sale in Chicago area
« on: May 17, 2009, 06:14:10 pm »
I have a 21 or 22 inch CRT monitor for sale.  Dunno what it's worth so I'm tacking on a price of $50.  If you think it's worth less (or more!) go ahead and make an offer.  This thing was a few grand new and now it's destined for a garage sale.  Figure it'd be perfect for a MAME machine, but unfortunately I just don't have the space for one that would use this size monitor right now.

I'm in Skokie, just north of Chicago.  I'm willing to ship it, but not sure it's worth it.

Reply in the thread or email me at sdembo .at. gmail .dot. com.  I don't check PM's on here very often.

Thanks!

Nobody on here is going to be interested in this without at least a brand and model number or photograph.

You might get thirty bucks, locally. Most people who aren't keeping them are giving them away. I've gotten two for free in the last two years, and seen more. Have found two 19-inchers by dumpsters and given one of them away.

Hey, 30 bucks is more than I have now.  not looking to be greedy, someone makes an honest offer and I'll take it!  Would love to see it go to a good home.

This monitor does indeed have potential for MAME.   Have a look at the specs:

http://www.monitorworld.com/Monitors/supermac/pv2103pressview21srthz.html

This monitor is an extremely high quality, high resolution CRT and should have nearly perfect convergence, color, and contrast.  It should also have digital adjustment of all three.

It will also sync to 31.5khz/120hz and that will allow it to display arcade games in native resolutions.

Yes sir, if this monitor is in good shape it's easily worth $50 to a MAME cab builder who's looking for a highly convenient display solution.

Beats the pants off putting a TV in a cab.

Um, I wouldn't say so. High-refresh modes with such high-resolution makes for thick 'scanlines'. I prefer running hwstretch on such monitors. But maybe there's someone else out there who feels differently. I doubt, regardless, they're going to pay for shipping.

Yeah, I know nobody would pay to have it shipped, but if there's someone in the Chicago area that wants it, I'll part with it for just about any donation.  Otherwise I guess I'll have to find somewhere to stash it until I'm ready to create something new....
