Angels and Demons
« on: May 16, 2009, 04:09:05 am »
What can i say? Very, very silly plot and premise. the very start at the CERN laboratory set the tone. If you know anything at all about physics, you'll understand that you need machinery MAGNATUDES larger than CERN to do what they were doing.

The happenstance to make the plot work is boggling. And I guess Ewen Magregor took the role as an irish priest because he needs the money and Colin Farrell was too smart to take the role. Ewen does not do a good Irish priest...

This movie has made me rethink my score for 'The love Guru'. Angels is better than that (marginally), but it's not worth a 3. Love Guru was 2.5. Therefore i've had to shift it down to allow Angels that 2.5 spot!

Quote
my score for recent movies you may have seen:

5/5 - Michael Clayton, In Bruges, Gran Torino, Mary and Max

4.5/5 - Taken, Iron Man, Reign Over Me

4/5 - Traitor, Bedtime Stories, Sunshine, pineapple express

3.5/5 - 300, Max Payne, You dont mess with the Zohan, Yes Man

3/5 - That new Indiana Jones flick, Disturbia, That new TMNT flick,

2.5/5 - Angels and Demons

2/5 - The Love Guru. Note: My 2 is probably someone elses 1. Just leaving room for worse!

The Love Guru is a retarded piece of garbage.  The only joke in the entire movie was the one played on anybody who watched it.  "Haha, suckers!"

The Da Vinci Code was a pretty awful book, but could have been made into a really fun movie.  Unfortunately the poster-boy of mediocrity, Ron Howard, got his mitts on it.  At first I thought it might not be so bad.  Ron Howard basically paints by numbers while making movies, and The Da Vinci Code was pretty much made to be a movie -- a monkey could have turned out a decent movie based on that book.  But I totally overestimated his penchant for making unremarkable films.  The Da Vinci Code was remarkably bad.  I expected no less from Angels and Demons, but based on the reviews so far it appears he has outdone himself once again.

Time to continue my responsibility of hijacking Danny's review threads. Just watched Yes Man this past weekend, and again last night with  the wife. The movie HILARIOUS, and also has a decent message that hopefully will influence my life decisions. Zooey Deschanel was very attractive in an odd way as usual.

I give it a 4 out of 5 arcade games.

She's always attractive.  Her CD is pretty good too.

I actually liked both books.  As for the movies, I tend to watch them for entertainment and to relax for a bit and tend not to nitpick every detail (*) the books tend to be better, but that's usually the case.

(*) Except for Judge Dredd which just plain sucked.

Yes, but then wher does it stop? that's why i tend to think in terms of 'out of five' nowadays. And go down to a half. Otherwise, it gets a bit much if you say this movie rates 65.899852489658965%...
