Author Topic: Taito Egret II help (Read 4036 times)

Hey guys i found a guy selling some of these Egret II's locally and i love the look of them but dont know much about them. As of now im using a old MK2 cabinet with a computer using a arcadevga2 and JPAC. I was thinking about buying the Egret II and putting my computer from my current mame cab inside. Was just wondering with its newer style monitor (not even sure what monitor is exactly seller could not tell much abot the cabinet). Anyways what all would i need to hook up a mame computer to this type monitor? Thats really my only concearn, the owner did tell me it was RGB. Thanks guys

I would imagine the monitor is a normal arcade monitor so your AVGA card shoud drive it properly, and since it is JAMMA wired, your JPAC should work nicely with it.

I know the guy and I may be going over there this Sunday to check out all his stuff.
I have a PC and a JPAC that he gave me to configure for a MAME setup. I will bring that stuff with me to see if it will run in his Candy Cabs.

Damn i wonder if i should wait and see if i can get one with VGA inputs... Anyways there is another guy selling the taito egret 2's in atl as well. I called the guy about those chinese candy cabs that u listed and he is a VERY nice guy, its just some people told me those cabs are cheaper knockoffs...

O one more question how would i go about hooking a xbox up to this monitor? I have a VGA cable for the xbox that i could run to the JPAC but i dunno if that would show properly. THanks

You would need a VGA to CGA converter if the monitor is a normal arcade monitor.

JPAC only amplifies the signal, it does not convert the scan frequency.

I found some console converters on ultimarcs site that look good. Only thing they dont make one for is the damn 360, but i was really wanting to use my dreamcast most of all...

For the Xbox 360 you should be able to get away with running in 480p. You will need the Xbox VGA cable to get RGB video though. Of course, that is if the monitor you are using supports 31khz.

Hey guys i picked the cab up this weekend. It is a 15hz or 24hz... Cabinet is awsome very well built. And the screen is a whole lot clearer than my old MK2 cab...

I got it from a guy on the neo geo forums but im sure he is on here to, his name is biblophile or something similar. Yes he has more, matter of fact i believe he has them listed in the sale section on here.

Very nice

I nearly scored a Egret 2 yesterday but I was just beaten to it whilst getting a courier quote.

I'm looking into a couple of other Candys at the moment thugh so I hope to have one soon

I bought my 1st jamma cab last week and its arriving in a couple of hours so that should cheer me up for now

An arcade dealer in the atl eh? I didn't think there was much of an arcade scene down here! Does this guy only have modern stuff or does he have anything else?

not really a dealer per say.

From what I understand he and a group of other peeps have formed the "SouthEastern Arcade Group" or something like that. And they all pool money together to order a cargo container of candy cabs from coinopexpress.com or whoever. Saves on shipping for individual orders.

He's got a warehouse in atlanta that he stores them in until everyone can come pick them up.

Im trying to rat-hole some money now for next time they do a bulk order.

Yeah he keeps them at his warehouse were he keeps his own personal collection which is quite impressive. If anybody lives nearby atl he does hold meets there.
