Newbie with a problem...hoping for some help.
« on: May 11, 2009, 10:23:59 pm »
Hey guys, I'm pretty new to the forums and the hobby but I'm having a great time.  I have started to experience a problem that I am unsure how to solve.

Here it is:
I purchased a Happ Ultimate Joystick (which I'm starting to regret).  I had it installed and everything seemed to be working fine.  BTW, I'm using an IPAC4 and have 4 8-Way Joysticks up and running as well as a 4-Way Joystick.

For some reason, my joystick seems to be registering 2 clicks when I press UP on it.  If I rotate the joystick around, the microswitch actually sounds a little different then all the others.  I'm trying to figure out what could be causing it.  I'm not sure if its the microswitch or just the fact that its an Ultimate Joystick.  I have 3 Supers as well and they all work great.

I originally thought I may have wired it wrong, but my 4-Way is daisy chained to my 8-Way to the Player 1 positions on the IPAC and the 4-Way is working great.

Any help here would be awesome and if I didn't make something clear, just let me know and I'll be happy to clear it up.  I just want this thing to work.

Thanks in advance guys.

If you suspect the UP  microswitch is faulty, swap it out with a spare and see if everything's good.
If you don't have a spare from another Happ joystick or pushbutton handy, swap it with one from another direction on your faulty Ultimate and see if the problem moves correspondingly.  That should (hopefully) isolate and verify the problem is the microswitch - which is a nice, easy, cheap fix.

If that isn't the prob, double check wiring and IPAC.
If microswitch and wiring are good, check the assembly.

I appreciate the response.  I attempted what you suggested and I'm still having the problem.  I believe I've identified it as a bad actuator.  Has anybody else had problems with them?  I'm not really sure how to fix it.  I guess I would have to buy a new actuator, but I'm trying to avoid that.  Any help here would be great.  Thanks
