Atx ps issues with make cab
« on: May 08, 2009, 10:59:49 pm »
After finally having my at psi die i'm now using an atx. Problem is when I bridge the green wire and ground the atx psu powers but the mobo won't boot. Anyone know how to fix this?

what are you trying to accomplish?  the only reason you should need to jump a wire from the green to ground is if you are trying to get the power supply to turn on without being attached to the motherboard.  if you are tryign to turn on the PC, why not just attach a pushbutton to where the pc power switch attaches to the motherboard?

I'm trying to have my PC start when I power the cabinet up.  I've managed to get it going by bridging wire 14 and ground, but it only works when you disable all the ACPI features on the board.

If you place a capacitor across the power button/ground lines, that'll usually make the motherboard think you've pressed the power button right as it receives standby power.  Start with a 10uF cap and tweak as necessary.  Observe polarity on electrolytics: one lead to the button will be ground, and the other is the signal.  Negative side of the cap goes on ground.

Thanks for the cap idea.  However I'm using a board with the bios option to tell it that it's connected to an AT power supply which negates throwing a cap in there.  Not that it's not a good idea.  I've now got the hardware all laid out now I need the software.  Does anyone here know how to get advancecd to install on a hard drive?
