Hyper SF2 Anniversary Bootleg?
« on: May 08, 2009, 09:33:43 am »
Hi Guys, as the title says I have a Hyper SF2 board, which is a probable bootleg. Ive opened the case and had a look inside. There are no extension pcbs fitting to where the eeproms go, so it looks like its a normal pcb which burned eeproms. There is also a small modification made to chip location bgsb3, where another chip has been jury-rigged into place/cross soldered, and two wires running up to the two SFX chips (eeproms 11 and 12).

The board boots as a phoenix edition, and seems to play perfectly well. The only issue Ive noticed is that there are no sounds/voice from the cpu character on player 2 side. Id appreciate if anyone can throw any light on the issue? Perhaps its something I can resolve myself....

On the service menu or test mode, set sound to mono. It is usaully set to Qsound stereo, and jamma is mono. Or put it on some speakers via the cps2 B board.*or sell it to me :afro: :afro: :P*

Cheers guys - it does look like some jumpers on the board have been changed, although im not too sure. It doesnt look like a production line finish so Im only guessing.

The Q Sound thing was the first thing I thought of. True enough it was set for stereo, but upon changing it to mono it made no odds at all. Ive also noticed that if you pick a character from a previous version of sf2, there are no voice/sfx from him/her at all no matter if the character is player 1 or 2.

Ill be sending it back to the seller should I not be able to get it working, Id really like to keep it so hopefully I can get a replacement board.
